Alexander von Janowski is leader of the Work Package "Certification" in the european Research project TEF Health. Funded by the European Commission in 2023 and led by Charité, Alexander's work within the consortium is focused on developing an agile certification process for AI medical devices that allow the continuous improvement of innovative AI solutions in alignment with the Medical Devices Regulation.
Alexander has a strong background in the intersection between technology, policy, and economics, crucial for navigating the complex landscape of AI regulation in healthcare. His work is at the intersection of Notified Bodies, Competent Authorities, Academia, and Industry stakeholders, shaping his ability to address and integrate diverse viewpoints and regulatory considerations across stakeholders. Alexander is currently also member of the German expert group on Strategic Foresight for German Government, working on future scenarios for international AI regulation. Futhermore, Alexander is the Founder and Director of the Responsible Technology Hub - a youth-led non-profit organization with the aim of making future technologies more responsible.
Alexander holds a Master of Science in Politics & Technology from the Technical University of Munich and has previously worked at the Machine Learning Research Lab of the Volkswagen Group, developing methods for ethical and trustworthy machine learning applications. This helped him gain proficient fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning which he currently applies to medical devices
